Privacy Policy

Vocab Lock ("we", "our", "us") is operated by Pavlovic Media (Dimitrije Pavlovic). This Privacy Policy explains how we handle your information when you use the Vocab Lock mobile application ("App"). By using Vocab Lock, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

1. Information We Collect

Vocab Lock is designed with privacy in mind. We collect only the minimum data necessary for the App to function:

• Language preference — the language(s) you choose to learn
• Learning progress — words learned, quiz results, streak data, and session history
• App settings — your selected apps to lock, daily word count, and notification preferences

All of this data is stored locally on your device and is never uploaded to any server.

2. Information We Do NOT Collect

We do not collect any of the following:

• Email address, name, or any personal identity information
• Phone number
• Location data
• Contacts or address book
• Photos, videos, or media
• Health or fitness data
• Financial or payment information (payments are processed entirely by Apple)
• Browsing history
• Advertising identifiers (IDFA)

Vocab Lock does not require an account. There is no sign-up, no login, and no user database.

3. OpenAI API Usage

Vocab Lock uses OpenAI's API to generate vocabulary words, definitions, example sentences, and quiz content. When generating vocabulary:

• We send text prompts to OpenAI containing the target language, difficulty level, and topic category
• No personal data is included in these API requests
• Requests contain only generic language learning parameters (e.g., "Generate 5 intermediate Spanish vocabulary words about food")
• OpenAI's API data usage policy applies to the processing of these requests. Per OpenAI's policy, API data is not used to train their models

4. RevenueCat

We use RevenueCat to manage in-app subscriptions and validate App Store receipts. RevenueCat processes:

• An anonymous, randomly generated user identifier
• Your subscription status and purchase history

RevenueCat does not receive your name, email, or any personal information. Their privacy practices are governed by the RevenueCat Privacy Policy.

5. Screen Time & FamilyControls

Vocab Lock uses Apple's Screen Time framework (FamilyControls and DeviceActivityMonitor APIs) to manage app restrictions on your device. Important details:

• You explicitly grant Screen Time permission when setting up the App
• The list of apps you choose to block is processed entirely on your device by Apple's framework
• We never see, access, or transmit the names or identifiers of your installed apps
• Apple's FamilyControls framework is designed with privacy at its core — app selection tokens are opaque and cannot be read by developers
• You can revoke Screen Time access at any time in your device's Settings

6. Analytics & Tracking

Vocab Lock does not use any analytics SDKs, tracking tools, or advertising frameworks. We do not track your behavior, usage patterns, or any other metrics. We do not display ads in the free version of the App (the free version is ad-supported only through Apple's native framework, if applicable).

7. Cookies

Vocab Lock is a native iOS application and does not use cookies.

8. Data Storage

All your learning data, vocabulary progress, settings, and preferences are stored locally on your device using iOS on-device storage. This data is:

• Not backed up to any server controlled by us
• Included in your iCloud backup if you have iCloud backup enabled (controlled by Apple)
• Deleted when you uninstall the App

9. Children's Privacy

Vocab Lock is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Since the App does not collect personal information from any user, this risk is minimal. If you are a parent or guardian and have concerns, please contact us.

10. International Users & GDPR

If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), United Kingdom, or Switzerland, you have rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), including the right to access, rectify, port, and erase your data, as well as the right to object to or restrict processing.

Since Vocab Lock stores all data locally on your device and does not maintain any server-side user database, you have full control over your data at all times. You can delete all App data by uninstalling the App from your device.

Our legal basis for any minimal data processing (OpenAI API requests, RevenueCat subscription management) is your consent, provided by using the App.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make significant changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Your continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
